China Telecom Cloud Computing Research Institute Hosts First IEEE MASS Cloud-Network Convergence Special Workshop in Seoul, South Korea

On September 25, China Telecom Cloud Computing Research Institute successfully held the first IEEE MASS Cloud-Network Convergence Special Workshop (CNC 2024) in Seoul, South Korea. The event showcased China Telecom's innovative achievements in this field, with participation from academia and industry experts across multiple countries, further enhancing China Telecom's international influence.

As the Permanent Chair of both the IEEE MASS conference and the Cloud-Network Convergence Special Workshop, Jie Wu, Chief Scientist of China Telecom and President of the Cloud Computing Research Institute, delivered the opening speech. He emphasized that cloud-network convergence represents a profound transformation of information infrastructure driven by the deep integration of communication and information technologies. This convergence not only reflects an inevitable trend in technological development but also responds to the evolving demands of vertical industries. He expressed hope that international scholars from academia and industry would leverage this platform to thoroughly discuss and share key technologies in cloud-network convergence, thereby advancing the construction of digital information infrastructure.

Sun Qiong, Chief SDN Controller Expert of China Telecom and Deputy Director of the Cloud-Network Operations Technology Research Institute at the Research Institute, serving as the Chair of this special workshop and delivered a keynote speech titled "Intent-Driven Cloud-Network Operating System". Within the context of cloud-network convergence, she elaborated on China Telecom's Cloud Reform and Digital Transformation Strategy, along with innovative breakthroughs in cloud-network operating systems and large-scale network AI models.

The IEEE MASS (Mobile Ad-Hoc and Smart Systems) is an international conference on computer networks, organized by the IEEE and recognized as an IEEE Computer Society conference recommended by the CCF. It focuses on publishing cutting-edge academic research in areas such as wireless networks, distributed cloud computing, and smart systems. At this CNC workshop, Gao Shen, a researcher at the Cloud Computing Research Institute, served as the Program Committee Chair, while Quan Shuo, another researcher at the institute, acted as the Network Chair.
